Fires in Boulder County

My heart is breaking as I see the devastation from the fires in Boulder County. Thinking of our friends in Louisville and beyond. Please reach out to me personally (amysantamaria@gmail.com) if there's any way I can help, even if you just need someone to talk to. If anyone knows of volunteer opportunities, please feel free to share them here in the comments.

Friends who are displaced, who may have lost your homes, know that your community is here to support you and get you through this.

  1. Giselle is working with the Sister Carmen Community Center on helping those impacted by the fires. She asked me to put out a message they could use hats, mittens, blankets, sleeping bags and gift cards. More information is available at their website: sistercarmen.org. You can drop off donations directly or contact Giselle at livelively@comcast.net and make arrangements to drop them off at her house in Lafayette. Thank you!

Reminder: meeting Wednesday at 4:00

Just a reminder that we will be meeting this Wednesday, August 18, 4:00 at Harlow Platts park by Viele Lake. The pattern is a modified version of the Swirl Hat, a favorite from Hat Bingo . I think it uses about 2 ounces of worsted weight yarn, preferable something machine washable, and a US 7 or 8 16 inch circular needle. Hope to see you there!

Reminder: Meeting at Harlow Platts Park Wednesday 4-6

Just a reminder: we will be meeting IN PERSON at Harlow Platts Park (by Viele Lake in South Boulder) from 4-6 on Wednesday. We'll have a spot to drop off finished projects and pick up the new pattern (you'll need to provide your own yarn). Remember we'll also be collecting sweaters for the refugee project. If you'd like to stay and knit, please bring a chair or blanket. We'll sit in small groups rather than in one large one. Hope to see you there!

Special project: knitting for refugee children

Hi knitters, I hope you are all staying healthy and relatively sane in this unusual and scary situation we find ourselves in. Are you stuck at home with some extra yarn and extra knitting time? Eleni brings us a special project from her mother's knitting group in Wales. They are knitting sweaters (or jumpers as they say in the UK) for refugee children in Europe. Roxana is generously donating one of her patterns for us to use for free, and I will post it here along with a photo of a sample next week. It will take a little more than 600 yards of worsted weight yarn, so go dive into your stash and see what you can come up with. Here is some information about the project, from Stiwdio 3 , the yarn shop in Cardigan, Wales that is organizing it: From the home of the giant Cardigan cardigan, we are reaching out to our incredible community and setting a challenge to produce 2020 children’s jumpers or cardigans for refugee children throughout Europe.  The inspiration for the project
