June meeting next week: A scarf with pockets

Hi knitters! I hope you are all having a good start to your summer. We are having our next meeting Wednesday, June 8, from 3:00 to 4:30 at the Meadows branch of the Boulder Public Library. We will be making a scarf with pockets. You need to bring: Machine washable worsted weight yarn:      3 ounces for the scarf      1 ounce for the pockets US 9 (5.5 mm) needles You can get the pattern HERE or I think we will have printed copies available at the meeting.  Judy from Shuttles will be at the meeting and will have some Encore yarn available for purchase. Encore is an acrylic-wool blend that is a great machine washable option for charity knits. (EDIT: THIS IS FOR THE JULY MEETING.) For you plan-ahead types, here are our meeting dates from July through January (so you don't have to dig into the blog archives to find them!): July 13, 2022 August 10, 2022 September 14, 2022 October 12, 2022 November 9, 2022 December 14, 2022 January 11, 2023  Hope...

Meeting May 11: Sweaters

Hi all! Our next meeting will be Wednesday, May 11 from 3:00 to 4:30 at the Meadows branch of the Boulder Public Library (large meeting room on your right when you enter). May is traditionally our kid vest/sweater month. Roxana has donated a fun side-to-side bulky weight sweater pattern for us to use. You can find the pattern HERE , or we will have printed copies available at the meeting. You will need 450-500 yards of bulky weight machine washable yarn and a US 9 (5.5 mm) 24 or 32 inch circular needle. If you don't have enough bulky weight on hand, you can hold two strands of sport or DK weight together, or you can work on any of our past patterns, or any kids sweater or vest pattern you like. Here are a few that are all in worsted weight: Striped vest and hat set from 2021 (photo in this post ) Mosaic vest and hat set from 2020 (uses slip stitch/mosaic colorwork) Flax, a free pattern by Tin Can Knits (seamless, top-down raglan sweater) Hope to see you there!

April bears!

Bears by Roxana It's bear time! Our next meeting will be Wednesday, April 13 from 3:00 to 4:30 at the Meadows branch of the Boulder Public library. We will be working on Roxana's bear pattern, which you can find HERE . We will also have printed copies available. You will need to bring worsted weight yarn and US 5 or 6 (3.75 or 4 mm) double pointed needles. You can use neutral colors (white, brown, gray, etc.) for a more realistic bear, or mix it up with a fun color.  If this pattern feels beyond your skill set, there will be help available at the meeting, or you are always welcome to make a hat - we can never have too many of those! My go-to recommendation for a free worsted-weight hat pattern is the Barley hat from Tin Can Knits.  Hope to see you there!

Make-up meeting March 15 2:30-4

First, I just want to say I'm sorry if you made the trek in to the library yesterday to find out that our meeting was canceled. I don't have any way to push notifications - the emails from the website are sent by google with some unknown latency, and I don't maintain an email list. I never thought about weather cancellations. before, so from here on out, if there's inclement weather, I'd recommend taking a look at the website (bouldercommunityknitting.com) before heading out to make sure it's still on. Second, we're going to do a make-up meeting for March on Tuesday, the 15th, from 2:30-4:00 at the Meadows branch of the Boulder Public Library. You can just come by and drop off finished items/pick up the new pattern(s), or you can stay and knit, just like a regular meeting. I hope you can make it!   If you're itching to cast on March's project, you can find links to the patterns in THIS POST .

March meeting canceled for icy roads!

Hi all,  Sorry for the late notice, but due to the snow and in anticipation of icy roads this afternoon/evening, we are canceling today's meeting. We'll try to get a dropoff time/location in the next week so that we can get hats and other knits distributed while there is still some winter left. My apologies if you don't receive this notification before the meeting - the email gets sent out automatically and I don't have control over that. Stay cozy and warm and keep knitting!
