Reminder: Meeting tomorrow

Just a reminder - we will be meeting tomorrow, Wednesday, December 14, from 3:00 to 4:30 at the Meadows branch of the Boulder Public Library. We will be making an adult hat (printed patterns will be available). You will need to bring 2 ounces of worsted weight yarn and a US 7 or 8 16-inch circular needle. Hope you can make it!

Big holiday donation: Where our knits go

Hi all! Several volunteers from our group worked hard to sort and distribute our accumulated hats, scarves, mittens, sweaters, and bears from the year. Read through to the end to get our total counts of our knitted donations! This year our donations went to Sister Carmen, Clinica, and EFAA. If you'd like to know more about these organizations or offer them additional support, I have linked to each of them below.  First, from Giselle, who went to Sister Carmen :   I wanted to let you know that I took all of our knitting to Sister Carmen this afternoon. Between 1:00 and 5:00 everything was taken by participants with many, many thanks. Kids enjoyed choosing a hat and I helped a few homeless men choose a warm hat and a bulky ribbed cowl. Towards the end of the afternoon a woman came in with her two sons. They were both wearing dinosaur costumes/pajamas and were thrilled to be getting groceries. I had two green hats left that went with their outfits and they wer...

Dropoff only on Tuesday, 11/29 at 3:00

We will have a project dropoff at the Meadows branch of the Boulder Public Library from 3:00-4:00 on Tuesday, November 29. This is a chance for you to bring in any finished projects before our pre-holiday donation to Clinica. Remember that you can also bring in children’s books (new or gently used) to include for Clinica to hand out. This won’t be a regular meeting to stay and knit - our next one of those is Wednesday, December 14. Happy Thanksgiving, and happy knitting!
At our last meeting, many of us took home lots of donated yarn to make projects through the winter, and much of that yarn was bulky/super bulky weight. Since most of our patterns are written for worsted weight, it seemed like a good idea to share a simple bulky weight pattern this month. You will need US 10-11 needles (16 inch circular and double points) and about 2 ounces of bulky weight yarn. (Remember you can always hold multiple strands together to get bulky weight.) You can find the hat pattern HERE . We will meet Wednesday, November 9 from 3:00 to 4:30 at the Meadows branch of the Boulder Public Library. I think the remaining donated yarn will be there, so if you missed out last month, make sure to come and take some home!

October meeting, books, and LOTS of yarn

Hi everyone and happy fall! Our next meeting will be Wednesday, October 12, from 3:00 to 4:30 at  the Boulder Public Library Meadows branch. We had a very large donation of yarn to our group, and Giselle will be bringing it to the October meeting. Come prepared to take some (or a lot!) home with you for your Community Knitting projects! Our October project is mittens, pattern HERE . You will need bulky weight WOOL yarn (wool is best for mittens, doesn't have to be machine washable) and US 9, 10, or 10.5 (5.5-6.5 mm) double point needles, plus a cable needle (or extra DPN). If you don't have bulky weight, you can hold together two strands of DK weight, or a strand of worsted and a strand of fingering weight, or whatever combination gets you something like bulky. If you don't have wool, or mittens are just not your thing, we can always use more hats. We are also accepting new or gently used children's books to include with our holiday donations, so feel free to bring som...
