Great to see you! Meeting again in October

Mistake stitch hat (pattern linked below)

Thanks to everyone who showed up/dropped off knitted items at the outdoor September meeting. It was great to finally see people and catch up. We had a great turnout and collected a lot of finished items to donate to people in need this fall and winter. We anticipate that the need will be greater this year so it's great that we're able to give so much.

You can click on the links below to get the  patterns we gave out at the meeting.

We had such a good time that we're going to try to meet again October 14, from 3-5 PM. We'll meet at  Harlow Platts park by Viele Lake in South Boulder, weather permitting. Plan to distance/wear masks as necessary.  If you are looking for things to knit, we are short of vests and mittens, and hats are always welcome. People can also buy some long-sleeve t-shirts in size 3T-4T to go with the vests, and we are also collecting cash donations to buy books for our holiday giveaway. You can also bring refugee sweaters in October.

Comments

  1. Hi all, sorry I missed the September meeting, but I'll be at the October one. Besides the usual hats, etc., I have a box of books that my daughter and I culled from her childhood collection. I'd rather these went to our Worthy Cause instead of Sister Carmen or Bookworm, but I don't know what happened to the books we supplied in the past. Would there be someone present tomorrow to look at them and advise?
    Thanks,
    Lynn Reed

    1. We'll be meeting Wednesday (not tomorrow) - just about to post the reminder. And yes, someone there should be able to let you know. Thank you for your generosity!

March meeting canceled / Ways to connect

Hi everyone, After careful consideration, we decided to cancel our March meeting (next week). Many people in our group are at higher risk (over 60, other health issues), and we don't want to put anyone in danger. We are following the lead of schools, public buildings, churches, workplaces, and other gatherings in social distancing. This will give our healthcare workers their best chance to fight the Coronavirus and reduce its impact. We will reschedule our bears meeting, possibly in April, depending on how the situation is shaping up. But for now, let's find other ways to continue our sense of community and connectedness. I'm exploring several things but first I thought I'd share with you a few free hat patterns that you can try. I will give links, but if you can't access them for some reason, just leave a comment below, and I will connect with you to get you either a printable PDF or if need be, I can print and mail you a copy. In addition - let's use the...

Hat BINGO for Clinica

Hello knitters, Clinica needs more hats! Our contact there told us that they handed out the last batch of hats we gave her in a matter of hours! So we need to make some more hats. To make this a fun challenge, I thought we could try a game of Hat BINGO.  Click here for your card: GET A BINGO CARD You'll see 24 squares, each with a pattern name, and one free space in the middle. To get a bingo, knit 5 hats - all the patterns in a row (across, down, or diagonal). If you use the free space, you still need to knit 5 hats, but one can be any pattern you like - on the card, a duplicate, or some other pattern or improvisation you like. Snap a photo of your 5 hats for proof of your bingo - there will be prizes!  I've included a few patterns we've shared on the website, and the rest are all free patterns on Ravelry. Many of them are adult size, but you can usually size down for a kid's hat (leave a comment if you need guidance on sizing a pattern down). Or just make an adult siz...

16 hats, 4 bears, 4 mittens, and 1 neck warmer

Hi everyone! Here is a very inspiring update from Twyla. Thanks to Linda for this incredible donation of her time and talent! From Twyla: Linda Leach has been knitting away despite the temporarily suspended Boulder Community Knitting meetings😊 So, in addition to the masks we've been giving them, today they will also pick up Linda's latest batch of beautiful hats, mittens and bears (and a rogue neck warmer that found its way into the bag lol). When she came over to show me what she'd made, I thought she'd never get to the bottom of the bag, as she removed item after beautiful item! A photo shoot ensued and I thought you might like to share some pics with the group. Clinica Campesina will be picking these up today, along with some masks. They are serving a larger population as other medical facilities are closed and they are taking the overflow of additional patients. I'm sure Linda's items will be much appreciated. Can't wait to see everyone pos...
